Ravishingly Raw
I’m adding a new dimension to our blog, namely raw and living foods. It is necessary for me to move back into a more pure way of eating since it is the only time I truly feel well. As I write this, my body is going through a lupus flare, and I’m always brought to my knees remembering some of my worst experiences with having flare ups. I become neurologically impaired, can’t sleep at night, restless all day, and many other very personal and embarrassing things happen to me during these times.
I’m not sure how much I’ll be updating this page, but I’ll try to work on it from time to time. I know that as we continue to work towards homesteading, we can also accommodate my raw and living food diet. When I’ve lost all the symptoms of my flare and start feeling better, I’ll be adding meats back into the diet. My daily foods will consist of fruits, veggies, raw crackers, cultured living foods like kefir, yogurts, miso, kimchi, smoked fish or sushi, raw milks and cheeses, and seed cheeses.
This page will serve a few functions…mainly on this page will be an ongoing blog of sorts about my journey back to raw foods, and then in a subcategory, I may add a recipe journal. I haven’t decided that yet, so no promises on that one. While I am a very BIG girl, I will not be weighing myself throughout this process. I do have a starting weight, and when I’ve reached the point where I’m ready to go back to adding cooked meats to my diet, I’ll give the beginning and end weight. The most important thing I’m doing though, is to get my life back so I no longer will be faced with flare ups. Raw foods always sends lupus back into remission for me. There is no room on this homestead or in my life for being debilitated. There are far too many things to enjoy in life, and laying in bed because I can’t move is not a part of that equation.
Friday August 26, 2011 I’ll be off to the Asian market, Sunflower foods and Whole foods for my staples. Saturday I begin my raw foods odyssey back to vibrant health! Wish me luck!
