Plant Something: We planted 495 cloves of garlic around 9 fruit trees

Harvest Something: 55 eggs

Preserve Something: We made powdered eggs for the first time. I’ll be writing a blog post about it tomorrow.

Waste Not: We continue to compost (I still haven’t weighed it even once) and the chickens always come running for any treats we throw to them…apples and apple cores, greens, their egg shells and even duck eggs. There are times when a duck will lay an egg right in the mucky area around the pool and it gets saturated. We won’t eat an egg like that, but I’ll throw the egg across the courtyard and the chickens all come running to eat it up. They love raw eggs. (weird right?)

Want Not: Powdered eggs don’t have to be refrigerated and can be stored in a mason jar for a long time (up to 10 years). More candles and mason jars. We’ve also saved seeds from more store bought organic squash. We have so many squash seeds now, I don’t think we’ll want for any more squash…ever. :)

Eat the Food: We’ve been eating a lot of bone broths, salads and homemade salad dressings. Dom is the master at making something out of nothing when it comes to salad dressing. This week he made four new dressings that were out of this world. Dom also opened two more jars of homemade pickles this week to eat. Dom finally finished up the 50 lb bag of high gluten bread flour after making so many loaves.

Build Community Food Systems: We continue to work on the greenhouse. Once the greenhouse is completed, we can start new seeds which will become the fruits and vegetables for the farmers market and our community…if that counts. Another half dozen eggs went to my dad.

Skill Up: I pruned my fruit trees for the first time. Vicki made soap for the first time and it came out awesome. At some point she’ll write a post about it. (No pressure Vicki) :)

Organization: I continue to get all our seeds organized and labeled. I also drew up more garden plans to stay organized.
